Protests Continue

This past Sunday, protesters, Egyptian Security and armed forces collided with one another once reports were leaked that Hosni Mubarak’s documents were being burned. The weekend was filled with a series of demonstration that were held outside the headquarters of the Egyptian Security organs. Pictures of protesters burning documents were shown. It was said that Egyptian forces handled things violently. Forces attacked the crowds by shooting them with stun guns. Loud gunshots were heard all around. Other reports said that Pro-Mubarak gangs made a comeback this weekend by throwing Molotov cocktails at the protesters and badly beating the protesters.
Currently, Egypt is being ruled under military council. This council just issued a statement which said it was their “Citizen duty” to return the documents. The protesters were also warned that if they did not return the documents or shared important information, they would face consequences. Ever since Mubarak stepped down, protests have continued in hopes of receiving promised reforms from the military government which will continue to run the country until an election can be held.
I have a feeling that these revolts in Egypt are far from over. The people just went through a major victory by pushing out Mubarak. Naturally, the people are going to test their limits. They know that if they have the power to push Mubarak out, they have even more power to go further in their revolts and demand every right possible.
